My thoughts do not mean anything.

This idea applies to all the thoughts of which you are aware, or become aware in the practice periods. The reason the idea is applicable to all of them is that they are not your real thoughts. We have made this distinction before, and will do so again. You have no basis for comparison as yet. When you do, you will have no doubt that what you once believed were your thoughts did not mean anything.
This is the second time we have used this kind of idea. The form is only slightly different. This time the idea is introduced with “My thoughts” instead of “These thoughts,” and no link is made overtly with the things around you. The emphasis is now on the lack of reality of what you think you think.
This aspect of the correction process began with the idea that the thoughts of which you are aware are meaningless, outside rather than within; and then stressed their past rather than their present status. Now we are emphasizing that the presence of these “thoughts” means that you are not thinking. This is merely another way of repeating our earlier statement that your mind is really a blank. To recognize this is to recognize nothingness when you think you see it. As such, it is the prerequisite for vision.
Close your eyes for these exercises, and introduce them by repeating the idea for today quite slowly to yourself. Then add:

This idea will help to release me from all that I now believe.

The exercises consist, as before, in searching your mind for all the thoughts that are available to you, without selection or judgment. Try to avoid classification of any kind. In fact, if you find it helpful to do so, you might imagine that you are watching an oddly assorted procession going by, which has little if any personal meaning to you. As each one crosses your mind, say:

My thought about ___ does not mean anything.
My thought about ___ does not mean anything.

Today’s thought can obviously serve for any thought that distresses you at any time. In addition, five practice periods are recommended, each involving no more than a minute or so of mind searching. It is not recommended that this time period be extended, and it should be reduced to half a minute or less if you experience discomfort. Remember, however, to repeat the idea slowly before applying it specifically, and also to add:

This idea will help to release me from all that I now believe.

Thoughts that uphold war have absolutely no value. The problem is, we believe they do. We have not learned to understand that anything we place emphasis on, whether we want it or not, holds our value.
Mind was created to move in one direction. Therefore, it cannot move away from what we do not want. When we decide to change our mind about something, according to higher learning, everything we do not want that is in conjunction with what we do want, will show up. This is because we are being shown our own thoughts and beliefs that are standing in our way.
People say they want global peace, but we as a global society cannot figure out what is in the way because everyone holds separate thoughts and beliefs about what this means, so we keep ending up with the same thing, which is war. If each and every personal thought was addressed to have global peace, it would never happen. The solution is a unified goal that will open collective consciousness to the idea of higher peace..
This is not a unified goal written in our terms because we do not even understand what it means to be peaceful within ourselves, much less offer what it means for global peace. Universal peace does not work according to the terms that we assign. These terms have already been written. It is up to us to accept them, not attempt to re-write them with words that we understand.
The terms of global peace are quite specific. The Great Miracle Share is a Living Document that meets the Universal terms required for global peace. It has taken over 6 years to get the wording right on this document so it would be Universally acceptable.
The truth is, if our thoughts do not mean anything, how can our ideas about peace mean anything? We have to begin to accept that the Universe has a better idea than we do when it comes to lasting global peace.

This is the second lesson in ACIM. Although the lessons in ACIM are to be individually applied, the whole goal of the curriculum is to change the intellectual collective consciousness of our world to embrace a more Universal approach to understanding. This understanding will be explained through miracle understanding.
Changing collective consciousness one person at a time takes a long time. The goal of The Great Miracle Share is to boost the wholeness of collective consciousness all at once by introducing a global project that anyone and everyone participate in. Because the Power in the One can be magnified by the power in the Wholeness, the time it will take to define a New World will be greatly decreased. If the many collapse the value in old world time, New World or virtual time, will begin to expand. Miracles work in virtual time, or the same aspect of time that has been assigned to artificial intelligence. We have the Right to be emotionally involved in Virtual Time. If we can create a cartoon character that can fly in Virtual Time, what will we be able to do with a miracle understanding?
